Bar45® for Standard WE/SS RJ45 Modular Plugs

The Bar45® refers to a series of uniquely designed load bars developed by Simply45® that are matched to specific Simply45® Standard WE/SS 8P8C RJ45 modular plug designs.  There are (3) Bar45® styles for the Simply45® Standard WE/SS RJ45 modular plug series:

  1. Bar45® for Unshielded Cat6 LAN cables with PE insulated wires (Part: S45-1100)
  2. Bar45® for Shielded 10G LAN cables with FPE insulated wires (Part: S45-1155
  3. Bar45® for Shielded Cat6 LAN cables with PE insulated wires (Part:  S45-1150)
The S45-1100 Bar45® load bar sits directly above the plug pins. No exposed untwisted wires. Improves NEXT performance.
Bar45® for S45-1100.

The innovative Bar45® for our S45-1100 RJ45 is the easiest load bar ever for use with unshielded LAN cables such as Cat6 UTP and Cat6a UTP.

The S45-1100 Bar45® does several things:

1 – The S45-1100 Bar45® is made of materials that provide better signal isolation and substantially reduce the effects of cross-talk inside the RJ45 mod plug.  Bar45® absorbs and limits both near-end crosstalk (NEXT) and far-end crosstalk (FEXT), thereby improving cable performance.

2 – The S45-1100 Bar45® innovative design reduces the length of untwisted wires inside the plug improving twisted pair signal performance and substantially reducing the introduction of NEXT into the signal.  The S45-1100 Bar45® uses a Hi/Lo stagger design that is inserted into the plug until it sits directly on top of the plug pins as shown below. The exposed wires are then trimmed flush to the plug before inserting.  This significantly reduces the amount of untwisted wires inside the RJ45 plug. Learn more about why limiting the untwisted wires is so important here.

No measuring the wires. Simply slide the Bar45® over the pattern-aligned wires back to the cable jacket. Then trim the wires flush to the Bar45®. So simple and easy to use. Once you try the Bar45® you will never want to use any other type of load bar for unshielded LAN cables.

3 – S45-1100 Bar45® combined with Simply45’s internal RJ45 design innovations allows the LAN cable itself to be inserted further into the plug, reducing the length of untwisted wires.  This symbiotic design of the load bar and internal RJ45 plug design helps maintain improved headroom performance and better signal integrity than any other RJ45 solution for Cat6 UTP and Cat6a UTP unshielded LAN cables.

Bar45® for Shielded Cat6 and Cat6a LAN cables with PE insulated wires (Part: S45-1150)

The S45-1150 Bar45® is designed specifically for our S45-1150 Standard WE/SS RJ45 modular plug. This plug is designed for use with PE-insulated shielded LAN cables commonly found on shielded Cat6 F/UTP LAN cables and on shielded Cat6a F/UTP LAN cables.  Most shielded 10G LAN cables use FPE-insulated wires. However, the Cat6a F/UTP construction uses PE-insulated wires and is similarly designed with Cat6 shielded F/UTP LAN cables.

For the more common 10G LAN cables with FPE insulated wires, we recommend using our S45-1155 Standard WE/SS for Shielded 10G LAN cables.  If you are not sure about the insulation type used on your 10G LAN cable, please refer to the cable manufacturer’s data or specification sheet. Another quick way to tell is that FPE (foamed polyethylene) is softer and spongier if you pinch it. The wire diameters are also larger than PE (solid polyethylene) insulated wires.  The PE-insulated wires are harder and stiffer. They are not spongy.

The S45-1150 Bar45® is a completely different construction and design from the S45-1155 Bar45®.  The S45-1150 Bar45® is correctly designed to maximize performance for PE-insulated LAN cable wire conductors.  It has a more traditional load bar design and works similarly to other load bars you may have used. However, the materials we use to create the S45-1150 Bar45® are unique and provide better signal isolation and terminated performance than other load bars on the market.

The S45-1150 Bar45® load bar is fast and easy to use and is highly recommended for Cat6 F/UTP and Cat6a F/UTP shielded LAN cables.

Bar45® for Shielded 10G LAN Cables. (Simply45® part: S45-1155)

Up until now, using a RJ45 modular plug to terminate shielded 10G LAN cables such as Cat7a, Cat7 and Cat6a was time consuming, frustrating, and if you ever put a Fluke test on the termination, the results were not exactly stellar. Of course, you could use an industrial style RJ45 Field Plug connector, but those are expensive and still require more effort than they should.

We did extensive testing and development to find a high performing pass-through RJ45 mod plug solution that was both easy to use and cost effective.  During our development we tried all that we could to avoid using a load bar for our shielded with external ground RJ45 modular plugs, but without a load bar we could not achieve our desired IEEE 802.3 10GBASE-T performance.

Simply45® introduces our exclusive Bar45® for shielded 10G LAN cables with FPE insulated wires such as Cat7a, Cat7, and Cat6a with S/FTP, U/FTP, and F/FTP cable constructions. The S45-1155 Bar45® is a new style of toolless load bar that simplifies the termination process for larger diameter wire conductors such as those found in shielded 10G cables. No more headaches… no more frustration… and excellent performance.

FPE (foamed polyethylene) insulated wires are found on most of today’s high-performing 10G LAN cables. FPE-insulated wires have a higher velocity of propagation and lower attenuation and lower capacitance (resistance) than PE-insulated wires.  These higher performance features are why FPE insulation wires are only used with S/FTP, U/FTP, and F/FTP 10G LAN cable constructions.

PE (solid polyethylene) insulated wires are commonly used on Cat5e and Cat6 shielded and unshielded LAN cables.  For 10G cables, only the not widely used or recommended Cat6a F/UTP uses PE insulated wires.

If you are not sure of the insulation type used on your 10G LAN cable, please refer to the cable manufacturer’s data or specification sheet.  Another quick way to tell is that FPE (Foam PE) is softer and spongier if you pinch it. The wire diameters are also larger than PE insulated wires.  PE-insulated wires are harder and stiffer.

If your shielded Cat6 or Cat6a LAN cable has PE-insulated wires, we recommend using our S45-1150 Standard WE/SS RJ45 modular plug.

S45-1155 Bar45® does several things to improve the performance of 10G twisted pair cables and make it easier to use than any other load bar:

  2. The S45-1155 Bar45® innovative design reduces the length of untwisted wires inside the plug improving twisted pair signal performance and substantially reducing the introduction of NEXT into the signal.
  3. S45-1155 Bar45® combined with Simply45’s internal RJ45 design innovations allows the LAN cable itself to be inserted further into the plug, reducing the length of untwisted wires. This symbiotic design of the load bar and internal RJ45 plug design helps maintain improved headroom performance and better signal integrity than any other pass-through RJ45 solution for shielded 10G cables.
  4. The uniquely designed S45-1155 Bar45® does not require the frustrating tasks of trying to insert larger wire conductors in the very small holes found on most other load bars. That design was not acceptable to Simply45®. The S45-1155 Bar45® simply requires you to insert 4 wires into Bar45® and then insert another 4 wires (according to the wiring pattern being used). Trim the wires flush to the load bar, then simply slide Bar45® back to the LAN cable jacket. Fast… Simple… and Easy to Do. No more headaches fiddling with wires trying to get them inserted into a load bar.

The S45-1155 Bar45® design is also used with the Simply45® Pass-Through RJ45 modular plug for Shielded LAN cables, part S45-1755P. Once you have used the S45-1155 Bar45® you will never want to use anything else for terminating 10G Shielded LAN cables for Cat7a, Cat7, Cat6a with S/FTP, U/FTP, or F/FTP cable constructions.

Bar45® for Pass-Through RJ45 Modular Plugs

Simply45® the industry-leading brand for RJ45 modular plug innovation and performance solutions introduces our Bar45® for 10G Shielded Pass-Through RJ45 modular plugs available on our part S45-1755P. The Bar45® is only one of the unique features of the S45-1755P ProSeries Pass-Through RJ45 Modular Plug for Shielded LAN Cables. Learn more here

If you are familiar with pass-through RJ45 modular plugs it is unusual to hear that a load bar is being used. Simply45® did extensive testing and evaluation on using pass-through RJ45 mod plugs with 10G LAN cables such as Cat7a, Cat7, Cat6a with constructions of S/FTP, U/FTP, and F/FTP.  We tried all that we could to avoid using a load bar for S45-1755P shielded pass-through plugs, but without a specially made and designed load bar we could not achieve the desired IEEE 802.3 10GBASE-T performance levels we were demanding. Nor could we obtain the ease of use that we required.

During our development testing for a pass-through RJ45 for shielded 10G LAN cables, we were unimpressed with the measured performance of other brand offerings.  Plus, their designs could be quite difficult to work with.  No wonder many device manufacturers recommended not using shielded pass-through RJ45 mod plugs with their 10G Class Ea or Cat6 Class E systems.

The Simply45® challenge was how can we significantly improve the performance and reliability of a pass-through RJ45 mod plug for use with Shielded 10G and Cat6 LAN cables but also make it easy to use.

One of the key solutions we exclusively developed was the S45-1755P Cap45®. Our patented Cap45® (PATENT: 10,811,831 B1) is a significant advancement in RJ45 design for 10G Shielded LAN cables.

Our exclusive S45-1755P Bar45® is designed for both shielded 10G LAN cables with FPE insulated wires such as Cat7a, Cat7, and Cat6a with S/FTP, U/FTP, and F/FTP cable constructions and Cat6 F/UTP & Cat6a Shielded F/UTP construction using PE insulated wires. The S45-1755P Bar45® is a new style of toolless load bar that simplifies the termination process for larger diameter wire conductors such as those found in shielded 10G cables. No more headaches… no more frustration… and excellent performance.

FPE (foamed polyethylene) insulated wires found on most of today’s high-performing 10G LAN cables have larger diameters than PE (solid polyethylene) insulated wires.  FPE-insulated wires are also softer than their PE-insulated counterparts.  The combination of having larger diameters and softer construction make 10G LAN cables much more difficult to use than a typical Pass-Through RJ45 plug design. And if you were patient enough or lucky enough to get these FPE wires to go through the front of other pass-through plugs… the resulting performance of the terminated plug left much to be desired… and in many cases caused the link or channel to not pass 10G performance over longer distances.

The S45-1755P Bar45® solves these issues by making the termination process not only faster and easier but also improving the termination performance to support longer distance links and channels.

S45-1755P Bar45® does several things to improve the performance of 10G twisted pair cables and make it easier to use than any other load bar:

  1. S45-1755P Bar45® is made of materials that provide better signal isolation and substantially reduce the effects of cross-talk inside the RJ45 mod plug. Bar45® absorbs and limits both near-end crosstalk (NEXT) and far-end crosstalk (FEXT), thereby improving 10G cable performance.

  3. S45-1755P Bar45® combined with Simply45’s internal RJ45 design innovations allows the LAN cable itself to be inserted further into the plug, reducing the length of untwisted wires. This symbiotic design of the load bar and internal RJ45 plug design helps maintain improved headroom performance and better signal integrity than any other pass-through RJ45 solution for shielded 10G cables.
  4. The uniquely designed S45-1755P Bar45® does not require the frustrating tasks of trying to insert larger wire conductors in the very small holes found on most other load bars. That design was not acceptable to Simply45®. The S45-1755P Bar45® simply requires you to insert 4 wires into the Bar45® and then insert another 4 wires (according to the wiring pattern being used). Trim the wires flush to the load bar, then simply slide Bar45® back to the LAN cable jacket. Fast… Simple… and Easy to Do. No more headaches fiddling with wires trying to get them inserted into a load bar.
  5. S45-1755P Bar45® makes it much easier to insert the wires through the S45-1755P pass-through RJ45 mod plug. The Bar45® acts as a guide that supports the softer 10G wire conductors so that the wires do not crunch or become damaged. This dramatically saves termination time and removes the aggravation that you would typically experience.

Fast… Simple… and Easy to Use. No more headaches fiddling with wires trying to get them inserted into a load bar. Once you have used the S45-1755P Bar45® you will never want to use anything else for terminating 10G Shielded LAN cables for Cat7a, Cat7, Cat6a with S/FTP, U/FTP or F/FTP cable constructions.
